Dr. Mayfield’s career has spanned 4 decades. Dr. Mayfield has treated tens of thousands of patients around the Atlanta area.

An Atlanta native, Dr. Mayfield began his fascination with the study of the human body as a pre-med/pre-dent major at the University of Georgia. After suffering sports injuries in high school, Dr. Mayfield was treated by a Chiropractor, which led him to his professional career in Chiropractic. He graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1976. Dr. Mayfield received his Georgia license in April of 1977.

Dr. Mayfield’s goal as a physician has been to provide his patients with the highest level of care through the use of his extensive diagnostic and treatment knowledge. He continues to treat a wide variety of cases specializing in the treatment of lower back pain, slipped or herniated discs, sciatica, failed back surgeries, headaches, neck pain, and arm pain. He listens to his patients and discovers the true cause of their pain.

Over the years, Dr. Mayfield has become a personal injury specialist in documenting and treating traumatic injuries as a result of auto accidents and work related accidents. Dr. Mayfield has testified as an expert witness in hundreds of personal injury cases. Dr. Mayfield associates with a network of orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, pain management specialists, and radiologists for prompt referrals when co-management of a patient's personal injury case is necessary.

Dr. Mayfield feels very strongly that no person should elect back surgery without trying all conservative treatments available. He knows the dangers of using of pain pills (opioids) and is against their use if at all possible. Dr. Mayfield has successfully treated thousands of patients that were scheduled for back surgery. In his 45 years of experience, Dr. Mayfield estimates 95% of all lower back pain (lumbar disc involved) cases can be successfully treated without surgery.

Dr. Mayfield has been active in the Georgia Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, and in 1994, was elected to the International Chiropractic Knights of the Roundtable. From 2014 - 2016 Dr. Mayfield was the Chairman of the International Chiropractic Knights of the Roundtable. In 2022 the Georgia Chiropractic Association gave him the honor of the "Georgia Chiropractor of the Year."

When not at his office caring for patients, you will find Dr. Mayfield playing golf, sitting on the beach, traveling, or enjoying time with his family (his wife Jori, daughters Melanie and Cheney, sons Joe and Chris, and his grandson Bash, and his granddaughters Karina and Wren.)
